Idiots Series Race Day Format

How a Typical Race Day Works

If there are more than 20 karts the field will be split into a new group for every ten to 13 karts after qualifying. Each group will run their own show starting up to 13 karts in the A-main (this can change depending on conditions and track size). This new format allows more karts to qualify for the A-main giving everyone more seat time, crowning multiple winners at the end of the day and ultimately having more fun!

Start times for each event will be posted on the schedule page.

Hot Laps

Depending on kart count there may be between 4-6 hot lap sessions of around 5 or 6 laps. This practice session is used to size up the track for gearing, tires and setup.

Qualifying

Every kart gets two laps around the track and keeps their best time between the two laps. Order of qualifying is determined by a pill draw at the start of the day. After qualifying the field is divided up into two groups, odds and evens depending on your qualifying result.

Heat Races

Typically there are anywhere from 6-8 heat races, depending on kart count. Each driver will be in one heat race. Everyone transfers to an A Main, with usually the top 2 or 3 finishers making a redraw.

A-Main

This is the big show! Each race day has two to four A-mains (also called the Feature). Laps are determined day of the race.
